About the journal

International law as an argument, not only a practice

Acta Juris Gentium will publish scholarship that takes international law seriously as doctrine, as an institutional achievement, and as a form of practical reason.

The journal welcomes work across the field of international law—the sources of international obligations, the law of treaties, the law of international organisations, the settlement of disputes, and the relation between international and domestic legal orders—as well as scholarship that situates international law in its political, economic, and historical context. It will publish comparative and historical work on international law, private international law, and work that crosses disciplinary boundaries.

The journal is being developed as an independent, international forum. It is committed to careful editorial work, serious engagement with argument, and scholarship that is accessible to readers across jurisdictions and traditions.
