About the journal

Commercial law as an argument, not only a market

Acta Juris Mercatorii will publish scholarship that takes commercial law seriously as doctrine, as an institutional achievement, and as a form of practical reason.

The journal welcomes work in the tradition of commercial law doctrine—company law and corporate governance, sale, carriage, credit, and negotiable instruments, securities and capital markets, insolvency and restructuring—as well as scholarship that situates commercial law in its institutional, economic, and historical context. It will publish comparative commercial law, the history and theory of commercial law, and work that crosses disciplinary boundaries.

The journal is being developed as an independent, international forum. It is committed to careful editorial work, serious engagement with argument, and scholarship that is accessible to readers across jurisdictions and traditions.
